The name "Márquez" comes from the famous Colombian magical realist writer [[wikipedia:Gabriel García Márquez|Gabriel García Márquez]]; the farmhouse's street name and number, 100 Macondo Lane, is a reference to the town of [[wikipedia:Macondo|Macondo]] in Gabriel ''[[wikipedia:One Hundred Years of Solitude|One Hundred Years of Solitude]]''.
 
constructed at 100 Macondo Lane on top of a hill after her family bought the land. Weaver left her family after learning of their massive debt incurred by the farmhouse.
